In the 2016 state Assembly elections, this seat voted in Phase 3 on Sunday, April 17, 2016 and the results were declared on Thursday, May 19, 2016.

Kumargram Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Alipurduar district in the North Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Kumargram and 2. Bhatibari, Kohinoor, Mahakalguri Parokata, Samuktala, Tatpara-I and Turturi GPs of CDB Alipurduar-II

This constituency covers an approximate area of 665 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kumargram is: 26°34'39.4"N 89°44'53.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 84.52%, while it was 85.64% in 2016, and 85.35% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Manoj Kumar Oraon of BJP won in this constituency beating Leos Kujur (Urao) of TMC by a margin of 11001 votes which was 4.79% of the total votes cast. In 2016, James Kujur of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Manoj Kumar Oraon of RSP by a margin of 6153 votes which was 2.95% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Dasrath Tirkey of RSP won this seat defeating Joachim Baxla of TMC by a margin of 12581 votes which was 7.18% of the total votes polled for the seat.
