You can imagine that a whole train is named after him. He is the only person in India, whose name has a whole train of Indian Railways! Thinking, fool! Not at all.

The person we are talking about is Sampuran Singh. A simple farmer living in Katana village in Ludhiana, Punjab became the owner of an entire train. The matter is of 2017. One day he suddenly became the owner of the Delhi-Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express, a train from Delhi to Amritsar.

In 2007, Indian Railways bought land from farmers to build the Ludhiana-Chandigarh railway line. At that time Sampooran Singh's land also came in the middle of the railway line. Railways acquired their land at Rs 25 lakh per acre. Everything was fine. But after a few days the matter got stuck. Because Sampooran Singh came to know that the Railways had acquired an equally large land in a nearby village at Rs 71 lakh per acre.

Sampooran Singh went to court against this kind of payment by the railways. After the hearing, the court ordered the compensation to the Railways from Tk 25 lakh to Tk 50 lakh, which was later increased to Tk 1.47 crore. The court directed the Railways to pay this amount by 2015. But Railways paid only Rs.42 lakhs.

Despite the court order, Railways failed to pay the compensation amount. District and Sessions Judge Jaspal Verma then ordered the train to be stopped at Ludhiana station. Besides, the office of station master was also ordered to be confiscated. After the court's order, Sampooran Singh reached the station and, present at the time, sat down on the Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express and claimed that the train was his from today.

After this, however, the railway section engineers reached the spot. Later, Sampooran Singh was told by the court that the matter is still pending, so he has to get off the train for the time being. We have to wait for the court order.
